Who I am

my story

Nathie is a singer-songwriter based in Martinique.

She never stopped singing. She only stopped being heard.

As a child, it took no words for that. A look, a lack of interest, and a little girl understands that her voice will find no echo. So she kept singing anyway, for herself alone, for years.

The day she wanted to be listened to, she hid one last time: an app, a voice, no face.

The comments came, more and more of them, addressed to someone with no face but with a voice. Then a sound engineer told her what nobody had told her before: you should be a singer. She found the idea ridiculous. She went for it anyway, telling herself that at worst, it would be ridiculous.

It wasn't.

Her voice is a four-octave mezzo-soprano, reaching up to high C. She never uses it to impress. For her, a held note is only worth what it carries. What she looks for is the shiver, that moment when a room holds its breath without knowing why.

She comes from Barbara, Piaf, Aznavour. She carries on with Ben Mazué and Felix Radu. People who know that the right word beats the high note. Her repertoire runs from jazz to soul, from pop to French chanson, in French and in English. Two languages, two colours of emotion.

She worked alone for a long time before taking lessons. Today, not a day goes by without her singing.

And when she sings, something happens that she does not entirely control. A form of elevation, almost a connection. That is where the emotion she passes on comes from, and it is what she comes looking for every time.

She sings solo, with Tendre Chaos for her own songs, and with Ayana Duo for lounge sets and seaside stages. She also hosts two shows on Super Radio.

“I sing to caress hearts.”
